Awakening to What Is Within You

From 'Morning Waits'
2-3 minute read
Morning Waits isn't another self-help book or political analysis. It's a pattern-recognition manual for people who sense something fundamental has gone wrong with the world, and suspect the problem isn't "out there" but in how we're seeing reality itself.
If you've felt the growing dissonance between what you're told and what you experience, if the news feels increasingly surreal, if you're tired of solutions that create new problems, this book offers a different lens: What if nothing is broken except our understanding of how our own minds work?
What follows are a skim of each chapter, enough to give you the flavour of the journey, but saving the deeper cuts for those ready to go all the way.
Foreword, Introduction & Preface: The Compass Points
The book opens with a bold claim that sets the trajectory for everything that follows:
Our lives are controlled, limited, and sometimes up-ended by the effects of a simple but fundamental misunderstanding of how our minds operate.
This isn't about individual therapy or personal development. It's about a species-level bug in our collective operating system, one that's creating every symptom we're trying to cure with politics, technology, and ideology.
If you're reading this because something feels off … if the world no longer makes sense, and the stories in the news don't match your lived experience … then this book is for you.
The book introduces cognitive dissonance not as a personal flaw, but as a weaponised tool:
Cognitive Dissonance (n.): A psychological discomfort caused by holding two or more contradictory beliefs, values, or perceptions simultaneously. The tension it creates compels the individual to resolve the inconsistency, by adjusting personal beliefs, filtering information, or avoiding further conflict altogether, through denial, and often by trying to bend reality to fit their updated beliefs.
But here's where it gets concerning:
Governments, institutions, and media systems, maliciously or not, have learned to exploit this vulnerability. By broadcasting tightly controlled narratives and labelling dissent as dangerous or morally depraved, they can create intense dissonance in the public mind, and when lived experience collides with official messaging, the resulting tension is unbearable.
To escape this tension, instead of questioning the narrative, we tend to react by silencing ourselves, or worse, redirecting our discomfort outward, towards the targets identified in the official story: those who haven't silenced themselves, and are expressing the same clarity that most are suppressing.
The Design of the Book
This isn't just information transfer, it's consciousness technology:
The writing leans metaphor-heavy for a reason: it's designed to engage both your logical conscious attention and your deeper, symbolic unconscious attention. One sees the facts. The other sees the pattern, and when they align you feel the flow state of coherence.
There's a warning that this isn't entertainment:
If this book does its job, you won't just read it … you'll wrestle with it, as I have. Some part of you may resist, may try to look away. But once you begin to see the patterns, you cannot un-see them.
The Territory We're Entering
From the Foreword, a crucial disclaimer:
I'm not a qualified philosopher, psychologist, theologian, or academic. I hold no certifications, no advanced degrees, no official title that would justify your trust in what follows. What I do have is curiosity, and an uneasy feeling that many of the systems we live within … social, political, psychological, even spiritual … are misaligned with something deeper.
I offer it not as truth, or doctrine, but as a lens or mirror. Not to persuade you, but to ask: Do you see it too? If any of this resonates, it isn't because I've revealed something new. It's because I'm describing something you already knew … just beneath the surface.
What These Opening Sections Aim to Establish
The foundation is set: You're not crazy for feeling the world has gone insane. The discomfort you feel isn't dysfunction, it's your system working correctly in response to inputs that no longer make sense. The book aims to show you why the patterns keep repeating, why changing leaders never changes outcomes, and what actually needs to shift for any real change to occur.
But this isn't passive reading. The intention is clear that the book is designed to change you, “irreversibly”, by showing you patterns you can't un-see once recognised. You're being invited into a kind of controlled awakening, where both your logical mind and unconscious recognition systems will be engaged simultaneously.
The setup is complete: We're about to examine the hidden operating system that runs human civilisation, and discover it's been running on legacy code that's catastrophically out of date.
